LARRY THE CABLE GUY
With his cry of
“Git-R-Done!” and “Lord, I Apologize?” Larry the Cable
Guy begins his daily radio commentaries in cities around the country. You might not think a cable installer could
be hilariously funny – until you see Larry the Cable Guy, the church-going,
strip bar-going know-it-all comedian in theatres and arenas across the United
States.
Born
and raised on a pig farm in Pawnee City, Nebraska his family then moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. Like many comics he began his career on a
dare at a local comedy club in 1986. He
was immediately hooked. In 1988, he quit
his day job as the funniest bellhop at The Ramada and hit the road. It wasn’t long before he was wowing comedy
club crowds with his high energy one liner style of stand up and soon made
appearances on “Evening at The Improv” “Comic Strip Live”, Comedy Central, MTV
and Showtime.
Larry burst onto the radio scene in 1992 on a highly
rated Tampa morning show and was
subsequently syndicated into Orlando. More stations followed and today his wacky,
outrageous and topical commentaries are carried daily in 14 markets on rock radio. Larry is also a regular on Jeff Foxworthy’s
Country Countdown Show. He also makes regular
guest appearances on The John Boy & Billy Show and the Bob & Tom Show,
which are nationally syndicated.
Larry stars in “Blue Collar TV” a sketch comedy
series for The WB network which premiered on July
29, 2004.
5.4 million people
watched the show and it was the second most watched show on television in that
time period. The ensemble cast includes
Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall from “Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Movie.”
The show came about due to the success of the film and the highly
successful concert tour, which grossed more than 15 million dollars. The movie premiered on Comedy Central and was
the highest rated movie in the channel’s history and has sold 3 million units.
Larry filmed the sequel “Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again,” this summer and the movie has sold more than
2 million units since its release on December 7, 2004. The movie had its world premiere on Comedy
Central, February
13, 2005 It
premiered on Comedy Central February
13, 2005 and was the 2nd most watched telecast ever leading the channel to
its most watched day, weekend, and week
in network history. The soundtrack was released on November 23, 2004
and debuted at number one on the Billboard Comedy Charts. He
will also be the voice of one of the animated characters in an upcoming feature
film “Cars”
from Disney/Pixar.
Larry will be releasing
his new cd “The Right To Bare
Arms” on March
29, 2005. His
current release “Lord, I Apologize” has reached gold status,
selling more than 500,000 copies. The cd was number one on the Billboard Comedy
Charts for fourteen weeks in a row. Larry‘s
DVD special “Git-R-Done,” has sold more than 1 million copies. The special
aired on Comedy Central and gave the network their second biggest Sunday night
ratings in the channel’s history.
Although there’s no
question that Larry is opinionated, he is very likable and has repeatedly
demonstrated that he has very wide appeal.
